Study center is meant to help underprivileged children primarily living in slums. Our current goal is to start a center in one of the slums in the city of Pune. The objective of this project is to provide after school resources so that the kids can stay in school and succeed. These kids otherwise have a history of dropping out of the school due to lack for support, encouragement or conducive environment at home. In most cases, the parents of these kids do not have much motivation to keep these kids in the school. They would rather have these kids work and earn for the family. Many dropped out kids tend to get involved in worthless or damaging activities. The after school study center provides kids a place where they get encouragement and help to stay in school and keep up with school work and learning in a safe environment. The study center also helps with personal development and value education through events, camps and trips.
The key aspects of this project include – providing room, furniture, library, computer, teacher, volunteer help, events, workbooks, progress assessment and project management.
