CHANCE Foundation, in collaboration with NGO – Center for Social Security and Research (CSSAR) started an after school study center in Ankhir Village, Faridabad, Haryana – India in August 2016. The new location is inside a school premises and has the needed infrastructure and provides a safe, healthy, open and clean environment for the children. Primary level classes for grade 1 thru 6 have started since August Ist, 2016. Two teachers have been recruited to run this location, one is a graduate and the other pursuing her diploma in computer science. So far, 60 children have enrolled in the this program. The annual cost for the primary center is about $2300. With the noticeable impact of the primary center, the community has been requesting to start the secondary level classes as well.

In January 2017, CHANCE board members Dharmender, Jayant and Bharat Sharma visited the center without any notice to the teachers or CSSAR representative. According to their reports, it was a very good visit and was fulfilling to see how the overall efforts are impacting the children we want to empower. The sincerity and dedication of the teachers was evident in the way they explained their own training, the school curriculum and daily routine. Children were randomly asked about their family and backgrounds, the energetic and high spirited children were very excited to share their stories. They were asked if the education they were receiving was helping them, they responded with a lot of positive feedback. Lot of kids reported that their grades/scores have started improving in schools. Teachers had requested to provide a laptop for the center. Bharat Sharma, generously donated a laptop to the center in March 2017. Dedication and commitment from members and volunteers like him and the entire CHANCE Team, with representatives like Mr. Jha of CSSAR, CHANCE Foundation is able to fulfill its vision of empowering underprivileged children. One look at these beautiful children and you will know that they will make you come back again and again.
