Many of the students staying in low income communities in Kaithal are children of migrant families who work as farm hands , as rickshaw pullers , beggars , rag pickers and road construction workers etc. have family incomes below 10000pm. Parents are forced to engage their wards in labor as In majority of cases and children either roamed around or supported families in rag picking etc. Their parents are low literate /illiterate and are busy meeting the survival needs of family and are not able to help their children with their studies. The families do not have enough resources to put their children into school and provide any remedial support.
The Solution being proposed is to support the education of the underprivileged School-going children of primary, middle and secondary grades in target communities of Kaithal by running Learning centers (remedial classes) for them and enrolling more and more of them in regular school. The learning centers would target children studying in classes I to XII. These centers would complement the gaps in school education.
Benefits/Impact:
About 200 children will get benefitted through this program every year. The regular remedial classes would help these students to :
- Complete their school assignments in time
- Clarify their doubts
- Get better understanding on various concepts in their syllabus
- Be regular in school
- Help them get admissions in nearby/good schools as possible, e.g. Navodya boarding school that’s free of cost for bright children
In addition, children will get support with basic stationery, school uniforms and will be encouraged to develop reading habits and realize their creative potentials. The goal would be that in future children should be in better occupations than their parents and should be able to break out of this cycle of poverty.
