Chance Foundation that started with $120 seed money has continued to grow in its impact to support and empower underprivileged children. The journey has been possible because of the generosity and goodwill of supporters like you. Your faith in the mission and your kindness to support it has generated meaningful and impactful outcomes in the lives of kids that struggle for their basic needs.

We are delighted to share with you some highlights of 2022 Q3 report of Samutkarsha project that is sponsored by Chance Foundation and implemented by our partner Seva Sahyog Foundation. Currently, this initiative supports a total of 100 children across the different activities.

School Kit Distribution – The program started with the prayer of Seva Sahayog – Samutkarsha. Teachers introduced the guest volunteers to the CLC students and their parents. The volunteers discussed the importance of the school kit and how it encourages kids to go to school and learn and not drop out due to a lack of educational supplies. Teachers and volunteers then distributed the school kit to the students.

Pre-Assessment Test – This year’s Pre-Assessment test conducted between July 25th to 27th 2022. In this exam, the students were tested for reading / writing in Marathi & English and on mathematical ability. Also, examination of the subjects of Marathi, English, Mathematics and Science was conducted for the students of 8th to 10th standard. Students’ progress is recorded along with areas of strengths and weaknesses and a teaching plan is designed accordingly. It also helps in conducting teacher training accordingly.

CLC Assistant Training – A training was organized for the abhyasika teachers in Marathi. Prajakta Kulkarni, head of Medhasvi Sanstha was invited to conduct the training. She trained the teachers in the study of Marathi grammar and how to teach students through pictures to increase Marathi knowledge. The teachers in the study liked this training very much. Teachers assured that we will also teach students Marathi through this medium. This training class will help the students in the study to develop a love for reading and improve their reading. This training is expected to improve the teachers’ skill-set so that they can support the children better.

Cultural and Community Connect Activities – Guru Purnima, Raksha Bandhan, Teacher’s Day, Ganesh Utsav and Gauri Competition were held to celebrate Indian culture and traditions, impart values to students and more importantly bring the community together in support of these children.

  • With Guru Purnima program students learnt about the Guru-shishya tradition to inculcate respect towards the teachers and parents.
  • Raksha Bandhan program was celebrated by students going from house to house in the vasti. Students, teachers and volunteers went door to door to tie rakhi to parents and informed them about Seva Sahyog abhyasika and activities.
  • Teacher’s Day was celebrated where students from 8th to 10th standard were asked to play the role of teachers and teach students from 1st to 7th standard.
  • Various programs were organized on the occasion of Ganesh festival. One of the programs was the Gauri Ganpati decoration competition. A Ganesh Visarjan procession was conducted, in which older students played drums and Tasha in Pathak.

As the students thrive under these enrichment activities, we need your continued support to help facilitate the same. An easy and most enjoyable way is to purchase tickets for our upcoming annual fundraiser on Dec 4th –  Zaroorat Hai Shrimati ji ki – a Rajkumar “Anil” Comedy.

We sincerely hope to see all of you there!
