Utpal lives in Maple Grove, Minnesota with his wife Leena. With all three of their children working towards college and career, Utpal feels very fortunate and blessed for being able to live a fulfilling life. Utpal feels passionate about all children, especially the underprivileged ones, getting the same opportunity to follow their dreams as he and his family did.

Utpal is born and brought up in a middle class family in Jabalpur M.P. He completed his MS in Chemistry from the University of Jabalpur and then moved to Pune, Maharashtra to obtain a Doctorate degree in Polymer Science. Following his keen interest in research, he joined University of Minnesota for postdoctoral research. Currently, he is working a Director of Materials Research & Development at Entrust Datacard in Minnesota. Utpal has authored 8 international patents and over 15 scientific publications in international journals. He enjoys listening to various forms of Indian music and likes sports.
