Leena lives in Minnesota, with her husband Utpal. She has three wonderful children who are pursuing their career and college education.
Leena was born and raised in Pune, Maharashtra, India. She got her degree of BA with Philosophy major and then obtained the Law degree from ILS Law college, Pune. She worked as a lawyer while in India. After moving to USA, she worked in a bank for some time but, as the children were growing up, chose to leave the job to be a full time mother. She enjoys music, dance and on stage plays. She has been acting as well as directing the Marathi plays; also performing and choreographing dances, for over 15 years. Leena also has a great passion for cooking. She loves to cook and feed friends and family. Leena has a keen interest in spirituality. She immensely enjoys reading and understanding spiritual scriptures.
Leena had a natural inclination for social work from very young age. While growing up, she had been involved in several projects and activities related to children and social work. Some of those include assisting the renowned director Sumitra Bhave in making a short film ‘Bai’ based on the women in slum area, working as an instructor on a playground for children at Garware Balbhavan, Pune, etc. She is one of the founder members of a nonprofit organization in India, called Andha Mitra, which works for blind children in Maharashtra.
Leena feels very privileged for being in a place where she is right now and thanks God every day for it. She feels that we all should give something back to the society, for the betterment of people, who are less fortunate. That way, we can make the dream of a perfect and happy society come true.
